Still working on the Flamenco images. Which one is best now?

Left is the "regular" image. Right is the same image (very roughly, may need some finetuning) edited with my "Hi-Pass tinted" Preset in Bibble 5. Personally I like the latter (right) one.

Which one would you use?

edit: well, guess the decision is made. The client (and model) has opted for the right one. No more doubts. Let's get working on the book.

Sean M. Puckett (@catbear) releases Andrea 1.0 plugin for Bibble 5 (@bibblelabs)

The plugins from Sean Puckett are legendary in the Bibble scene. My personal favorite has always been Andy PRO. This was a very extensive film plugin that accurately simulated a lot of the better known, and not so well-known black&white and color films.

Now, finally, shortly after the release of Bibble 5 Pro, the successor of Andy Pro is here. With a new name, and rewritten from the ground up: Andrea. The plugin is available to try for free, with a limited choice of films. The full version unlocks the full list.

What is new in Andrea apart from that it is B5 compatible is that it will also implement colour film simulation with more films to choose from. Now, only the slide films are available, but soon you can expect more choices including negative films.

Some samples (before/after) below:
Original version:

With Andrea, using ADOX KB50 film in D76 developer 4min at 68F printed on Fomaspeed paper grade 3:

I love the flexibility this plugin offers, without losing the ease of use.

Another sample, original version:

With Andrea, using Kodak HS infrared film in D19 printed on Agfa Bromira-speed paper grade 0:

Original:

Andrea, Kodak Tech Pan 25 in Technidol 11min on Agfa Record-Rapid paper grade 2:

And finally, a color slide film sample, original:

Kodak Kodachrome 40:

If you like the plugin, please support Sean by purchasing the full version!

PS: the plugin does not add vignetting, that is done in Bibble 5 itself (but I like it, so I add it ;-))

Bibble 5 plugin: Color Popper makes your colors go *pop*

Maas-Maarten Zeeman has been developing Bibble plugins for quite some time now. His plugins can be found here.

However, those are still for the "vintage" Bibble 4 and only recently he has picked up the pace to port them to Bibble 5.

First plugin is Color Popper. It makes your colors.. well, *pop*.

Samples below:
Before

After:

And another one:

After:

Pretty cool eh!

Be aware the plugins for Bibble 5 aren't yet available for the public, but I bet it won't be long! :-)

Venus and Moon conjunction

Well, the actual conjunction will be tomorrow night, but they predict clouds. I thought I'd try tonight already.

Handheld with the Nikon D700 and 24-120mm VR lens at 120mm and 70mm. F5.6/F5.3 and 1/5s exposure time. Processed in Bibble of course.

(best appreciated when viewed full size)

No Bibble 5 before the end of the year.

Too bad Bibble 5 didn't make it before the end of the year, so be it. You can't say they didn't work hard enough!
But for those waiting: indeed it is going to be a superb application, so hang on for a bit.

back from new york

Well, I'm back again, and immediately into the regular rythm of boring work.
Here's a quick recap of the last few days in NYC.

Photoplus was fun and hectic. Not a big show to european standards, but still very busy. Great showing off a product you love and see the positive feedback the users have. Bibble 5 has the potential to change the imaging industry, really. Just wait and see for yourself once it's released.
Or have a quick peak at the interview:
NYC is very nice. Went to quite a few bars, some of them were meh (see my previous post), others were nice. Food is great, if you know where to go (obviously I didn't, but others did...).

Visited the 5th Ave Apple Store (hey as an Apple fanboy I should go there, right?).. which to me is completely overrated. Yeah, the outside is nice, but once you're inside there's nothing special about it. So I was gone quickly.

I planned on going around town on sunday, the day I left, but once I got walking my feet were killing me, so after about an hour I decided to get to B&H and pick up the stuff I ordered at photoplus (a very cute girl called Jessica.. *swoon*), and take off to the airport. So didn't see that much, but enough to get an impression of the general atmosphere there. Definately have to get back someday not too far into the future.

I got a very nice present in the form of a nikon D700 plus 24-120mm VR kit, which is simply an amazing camera. Very *very* happy with it. Need to arrange some shoots soon! At Photoplus I ordered the new Lens Baby composer for it. Nice gadget. I have the original LB, thought it was time to upgrade now they finally have fixed the aiming of it. looking into the 50mm 1.4 nikkor as well, but that won't be available until december, probably january.
